How durable is the painting?

Very. Janan formulates her own paint — a recipe refined over decades — so the finish is crack-proof and water-resistant, designed to flex with the leather, breathe, and resist abrasion. The result is far more durable than anything off-the-shelf. Pieces painted over a decade ago are still in daily use and still look as they did the day they left the studio.

Can you fix damage at the same time?

Yes, and it's often part of the work. Espresso stains, scuffs, soft corners, faded edges — most are turned into part of the design. Clients send pieces they believe are ruined, and what comes back is a restored heirloom.

How long does the customization take?

Accepted Answer

Three to six weeks total. The actual painting takes under a week — the rest of the time is the waiting list. If you have a deadline (a birthday, an event, a trip), say so when you write, and the atelier will tell you honestly whether it's possible.

How much does it cost?

Pricing ranges from roughly $250 to $2,500, depending on the size of the painting.

Where are you based? Can you receive my piece?

Janan works between two ateliers: Dubai (primary studio, serving the MENA region) and New York (serving North America and frequent travel clients). Pieces can be shipped to either, or hand-delivered locally.

How do I ship my piece to the atelier?

For international clients, DHL is the easiest route — Janan can send shipping instructions including a fully insured pickup at your address. For US clients, UPS and FedEx work well. For Dubai and NY clients, a courier or hand-delivery is usually simplest.

What kinds of items do you accept?

Almost anything paintable. Leather bags of all brands, leather jackets, denim, shoes, accessories, walls, doors, furniture, marquetry panels, yacht and car interiors. If you're unsure, send a photo — Janan will say honestly whether it can be done.

Question 8

Will my piece still look like itself after?

Accepted Answer

Always. The goal is to amplify what already makes the piece yours — not to disguise it. Bespoke means your story. Janan's signature is in the technique, not in claiming the surface.

Question 9

What if I don't know what design I want?

Accepted Answer

That's normal. Most clients don't, at first. Send a photo of your piece and a few inspirations — favorite paintings, colors, memories, places — and Janan will sketch directions before any painting begins.

Do you take rush commissions?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Janan accepts rush commissions when the calendar allows. Rush work is priced at 50% above the standard quote to reflect the reshuffled schedule and concentrated studio time. Ask, and the atelier will be honest about whether it's possible without compromising the work.

Question 11

Do you ever decline a piece?

Rarely, but yes. If a piece is too damaged to support paint safely, or if the design idea would meaningfully reduce the value of the original, the atelier will say so before the work begins.

Can I see the work in person before I commission?

In Dubai, yes — informal meetings are welcome. In New York, in-person sessions are arranged by appointment for select projects.
