● Commissioning a piece
A commission,
in four acts.
Three to six weeks from first conversation to finished piece. Hand-painted by Janan, from first stroke to last.
The Conversation
Send a photo and a thought.
The simplest way to begin. Send Janan a DM, a WhatsApp, or an inquiry through this site. Include a photo of the piece you'd like to transform — and, if you have one, an image or idea that inspires you. (Funny story: clients sometimes send Janan a piece of art they want copied, only to discover it's one of her own, painted onto another bag.)
— If you're not sure what you want, that's normal. Janan will send options.

The Vision
Designs, tailored to the piece.
Once Janan has photos of your item, she'll sketch directions specifically for it — its shape, your wardrobe, your story. If you're not sure where to start, she'll send over a few of her own ideas and example sketches drawn from past commissions to react to. Pricing is per painted side of the bag, scaled to size, with a range shared up front and a final quote once the design is locked. No surprises.
— Pricing scales with the size of the piece and the number of sides painted — a clear range is shared up front, with a final quote once the design is locked.

The Atelier
In Janan's hands, less than a week.
Most pieces wait three to six weeks for their turn in the studio. Once Janan begins, the painting itself takes under a week. While she's there, she also fixes the small things — soft corners, faded edges, faint scuffs. Most clients are pleasantly surprised: they sent in a bag, and what comes back is a restored, painted heirloom.
— Repair is included where the art lives on it.

The Return
Hand-delivered, or sent across the world.
Dubai clients are often hand-delivered by C-to-C courier. New York clients ship via UPS or FedEx. International shipping is handled through Janan's DHL account from Dubai. Insured, tracked, and packed with the care of an atelier that has done this thousands of times.
The Return
Atelier doctrine
“A stain isn't a flaw. It's where the painting begins.”
Espresso on a white Balenciaga. A scratch on a Birkin. A corner gone soft on a Kelly. Most clients send Janan a piece they believe is ruined and receive a restored, hand-painted heirloom in return.
On durability
Made to be worn, not preserved.
Janan uses professional-grade leather paints designed to flex with the leather, breathe, and resist abrasion. Pieces painted over a decade ago are still in daily use and still look as they did the day they left the studio.
Wear it. Don't preserve it. The paint is made to live with the leather, not sit behind glass. If a piece ever needs a touch-up — a corner, a small scuff — send it back. Janan looks after her work the way a painter looks after her paintings.
